International seminar on Folklore held at IU

An international seminar styled “Contemporary Trends in Folklore” was held at Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia on Sunday.

Folklore Studies department of the university arranged the seminar at Birshreshtha Hamidur Rahman Auditorium at 9:30 am.

IU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari addressed the occasion as chief guest while Professor Emeritus of Rabindra Bharati University, India Barun Kumar Chakrabarty was the chief discussant.

Pro-VC Professor Dr M Shahinoor Rahman, treasurer Professor Dr M Selim Toha, dean of Humanities and Social Sciences faculty Professor Dr M Habibur Rahman, professor of Bangla Department Dr Abul Ahsan Chawdhury were present at the seminar as special guests.

Chairman of Folklore Studies department Professor Dr Md. Saidur Rahman presided over the seminar while associate professor of Bangla department Dr M Rabiul Hossain conducted it.

IU Proctor Professor Dr M Mahbubar Rahman, Bangla department Professor Dr Rahman Habib, chairman of English department Professor Dr AHM Aktarul Islam and professor of Arabic department Dr M Kamrul Hassan and several hundreds teachers and students participated in the seminar.
