RU admission test begins, 1 held over forgery

The admission tests for the first year honors courses of Rajshahi University (RU) under 2017-18 academic sessions began on Sunday and continue till Thursday.

On the first day on Sunday, group-1 of E unit was held from 8:30 am to 9:30 pm, group-2 from 10:30 am to 11:30 am and group-3 from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm.

Later, group-1 of A unit was held between 2:30 pm and 3:30 pm and group-2 between 4:30 pm and 5:30 pm.

On the other hand, a student was detained from 2nd Science Building of the university this morning as he was caught up in proxy exam of an applicant in the admission test of Social Science faculty under E unit.

The detainee was identified as Md. Abdul Motin hailed from Jamalpur. He was handed over to Motihar police station.

Exam hall duty teachers caught Motin when they found dissimilar photo to the admit card.

This year, some 3,16,120 students have applied for 4,119 seats (without quata) under 59 departments of 9 faculties of the university.

RU VC Professor M Abdus Sobhan visited different exam halls on the campus. He was accompanied by Pro-VC Prof Dr. Ananda Kumar Saha, student adviser Prof Zannatul Ferdous, PRO administrator Prof Dr. Probhash Kumar Karmakar and other top officials of the university during the time.

Special security measures have been taken by the university proctor office to keep the environment calm on the campus during the admission test. Apart from police, RAB forces have also been employed on the campus.
