The Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) will be brought under uninterrupted internet connection soon, aiming to ensure the highest Information Technology (IT) services to the teachers and students.
To establish such service two full-fledged computer labs and a data center have already been set up on the campus recently.
The connection of the entire campus will be monitored through the data center routinely. Besides, the process of connecting the optical fiber to the whole campus is running now.
The work for final phase of the project will start in this December and will be completed in June next year, RUET Vice-Chancellor Professor Rafiqul Alam Beg expressed the hope.
The project has been implementing under “Extension and Renovation of Network and Automate Office Management System” which is a sub project of Higher Education Quality Enhancement Programme (HEQEP) financed by the World Bank.
RUET administration sources said there is limited broadband service at the university administrative building, library, computer science building and central computer center.
Professor Bashir Ahmed, chief coordinator of the project and also director of RUET Computer center claimed, after implementation of the project, the teachers and students of RUET will get more internet service than any others universities of the country.
After completion of the project work next year, the internet speed would be 10 gps on the campus which is now only 250 mbps, Prof Ahmed added.
