Sri Lanka captain Thisara Perera won yet another toss, and elected to bowl in the second T20I against India in Indore. Thisara said he felt the short boundaries at the Holkar Stadium would lend better to a chase.
After suffering a 93-run loss in the previous game, Sri Lanka opted to bolster their batting. This meant they left out seamers Vishwa Fernando and Dasun Shanaka to bring in batsman Sadeera Samarawickrama and allrounder Chaturanga de Silva.
India made no changes to their XI.
