Bangabandhu\\\'s Homecoming Day observed at IU

The historic Homecoming Day of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was observed at Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia on Wednesday in a befitting manner.

On January 10, 1972, Bangabandhu returned to the independent Bangladesh after over nine and a half months' captivity in a Pakistan jail.

Marking the day, a colorful procession led by Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari was brought out around 11.30 am in front of the administrative building which was ended at the 'Mrittunjoyee Mujib' mural after parading the main roads of the campus.

Pro-VC Prof Dr M Shahinoor Rahman, Treasurer Prof Dr M Selim Toha, Acting Registrar SM Abdul Latif, Proctor Prof Dr M Mahbubar Rahman, other teachers, officials and students took part in the procession.

Later, the VC along with Pro-VC, Treasurer and acting registrar placed floral wreaths at the mural on behalf of the university administration for the first time after inaugurating the mural at the campus on January 7.

Besides, the authority of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall and IU unit BCL President-Secretary Shahinur Rahman and Jewel Rana placed floral wreaths there respectively.

Prayers were also offered seeking eternal peace of the departed souls of Bangabandhu
